History

Wright Construction began in 1946 in Elkhart, Indiana when Fred Wright established a small office in the basement of his home.  The Company thrived from the very beginning, winning and completing many large projects that were supervised directly by Mr. Wright. 1954 became an important year for the Company in that its growth caused the Company to move to expanded office space. Additionally in that year Mr. Wright hired Ron Edman, a young mason tender, who would prove to be an important component to the Organization’s success.  The Company was incorporated in 1959 and officially became Wright Construction Corporation.

Continuing its “hands on” approach and pattern for success, Wright made its final move during 1973 in Elkhart to a large two-story office building.  Ron Edman had become extremely important to the Company’s growth and during that same year he was promoted to Vice President.

In 1981, the Company made the strategic decision to open an office in the Fort Myers area. By 1985, they achieved such success, Wright built their current corporate headquarters in Fort Myers and Ron Edman moved his family to Florida and was named the President of Wright Construction.

Fred Edman was hired in 1983 as a laborer at Wright Construction and upon college graduation in 1987, was re-hired to manage school projects. In 2001, Fred Edman became President of Wright Construction. When Ron Edman retired, the company was incorporated as Wright Construction Group in 2005.

The Company continues to thrive under the leadership of Fred Edman.  He has added both a Civil Division and a Small Works Division as well as initiated many innovative programs, technological advancements, and quality improvement programs.
